This practice-oriented workshop is designed for clinicians who have little or no experience in acupuncture, yet have interest in learning acupuncture and to use it as a complementary treatment modality for the management of musculoskeletal pain disorders. Through lecture and hands on experience, participants will be able to understand the basic acupuncture theories as well as skills in the following topics: Percutaneous Electrical Nerve Stimulations (PENS) for the management of chronic low back pain/neck pain, Acupuncture in treating tension headaches, Acupuncture for myofascial pain and trigger point release, Auricular acupuncture such as Battlefield Acupuncture in managing chronic pain. Upon completion of this workshop, attendees will be able to identify the needed tools and skills to incorporate acupuncture responsibly into their medical practices.

  • Understand the principles of acupuncture point selection.
  • Aquire the skills needed to perform acupuncture in managing patients with acute or chronic pain in collaboration with medications and other interventions.
