This session will provide a Comprehensive Update & Overview on Congressional Health Care Reform Efforts, CMS Post-Acute Care (PAC) Reform, and AAPM&R Legislative, Regulatory & Advocacy Initiatives. There will (likely) be significant legislative and regulatory change to the health care system over the next year which will impact physician reimbursement and patient access particularly in the area of habitation and rehabilitation. This is in addition to continued efforts to accelerate IMPACT Act implementation, reform the post-acute care payment and quality reporting system and moves to implement a Unified PAC Payment System. Health care reform in general and PAC reform efforts in particular will have significant impacts on physiatrists and their relationship with providers, hospital centers, the rehabilitation team and patient care.
